Almondsbury Gas Peaking Plant, Gloucestershire

We provided a Landscape and Visual Appraisal (LVA) for a proposed gas peaking plant (GPP) near Almondsbury and next to the M5 in South Gloucestershire. The installation comprises containerized generator units which kick in when there is high demand for electricity. This GPP balances output to the grid from an adjacent solar farm.

Walpole Bank Solar Farm, Norfolk

We prepared the LVIA for a solar farm with an export capacity of up to 49.9 MW. The solar farm will produce approximately 72,000 MWh of clean renewable electricity per annum. This is equivalent to the annual electricity needs of approximately 19,000 family homes. The planning application was consented by Kings Lynn and West Norfolk Borough Council in January 2021.

Our services included advising on landscape mitigation as part of the scheme (primary mitigation to optimize the layout and secondary landscaping mitigation). We produced the landscape and ecology enhancement plan and the landscape and visual impact assessment report, with zone of theoretical visibility maps and photomontages.

Anaerobic Digestion Scheme, West Sussex

We prepared the landscape and visual impact assessment (LVIA) and advised on appropriate landscape mitigation for a commercial-scale AD plant in Sussex. We have been involved in similar schemes in Shropshire and Staffordshire.

We undertook landscape and visual assessment work and produced accurate visual representations for a 17MW solar energy project on a 24 ha site in Tilbury Marshes. Our work involved consultation with planning and landscape officers and helped overturn preliminary objections through adopting a mitigation-by-design approach to the scheme.

Landscape Visual has been involved in excess of 0.3GW capacity of renewable energy projects (on-shore and off-shore wind, solar PV and anaerobic digestion) since we started-up in 2010.

Wind Energy Projects, South-West England

Wind Energy Projects, South-West England

Wind Energy Projects, South-West England

We have been involved with many wind energy projects in the South-west. The above photomontage shows a 500kW EWT Directwind 54 turbine (77m to blade tip) near Boyton in Cornwall which was consented in 2013.

We have been involved with fifteen similar projects in Cornwall, Devon, Wiltshire and Oxfordshire. Our scope of services for wind and renewable energy projects can include feasibility/capacity and site design work, LVIA, and producing zone of theoretical visibility (ZTV) maps and visualisations (wireframes and rendered photomontages) in adherence to Scottish Natural Heritage’s Visual Representation of Windfarms standards. On many projects we consult with local planning authorities and third parties. We also provide services in connection with planning appeals.
